St. Augustine's church
Regular eventsWhat we usually do through the year at St. Augustine's church. |
As well as our regular services, we have a number of special events which we usually celebrate each year. This does not prevent us from doing yet more things if we so wish !
St. Augustine's is part of Holy Trinity parish, so takes part in all the parish activities; we haven't tried to include all the parish activities in this list. See the Holy Trinity pages for details of the parish activities.
Garden party | January | A relaxed afternoon in someone's garden, with tea, cakes, and undemanding ( not compulsory ) activities. Croquet has recently been popular. |
Patronal celebration | May | St. Augustine is remembered on May 26; on a Sunday close to that date we have a special service of thanksgiving. |
Christmas windows | In time for Christmas services | Not strictly a formal activity, but the windows go up every year. We're rather pleased with them ! |
Carol service, and barbecue | December | Carols, and a story, and ( afterwards ! ) a barbecue. BYO ! |
Christingle service | Christmas Eve | A very popular service; the Christingle reminds us of God's bounty to us, and particularly of the gift of His Son. |
